Community Access Manager

">Job Description

The Community Access Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, promoting and developing community access programs in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

This role aims to bring together organizations that serve individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to achieve a set of community objectives including reducing chronic homelessness, overall homelessness, and new inflows to homelessness.

The Community Access Manager will work with the Governance Committee and other stakeholders to examine and accomplish the objectives outlined in the Reaching Home Coordinated Access Guide.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate governance committee meetings and ensure appropriate representation.
  • Recommend and outreach to new potential committee members as needed.
  • Support timely decision-making by the committee to advance the Community Access program.
  • Ensure the committee has current Terms of Reference (Roles and Responsibilities).
  • Articulate clear coordinated access outcomes, local priority populations, and 12-month governance committee goals.
  • Onboard new committee members and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  • Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years in housing or community development/community engagement.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and lead towards a shared goal.
  • Highly organized and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of programs and applications.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • Understanding of servant leadership and community-centricity.
  • Experience using databases.
Work Conditions
  • Travel may be required.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime may be required; working evenings/weekends as needed.
  • Interacts with employees, management, and the public at large.
  • Environment can be busy and/or noisy at times.
