Job Summary

This position is responsible for promoting a culture of safety within the organization by implementing and enforcing standard operational procedures and safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team in developing and executing fire safety techniques, scheduling drills, and evaluating performance effectiveness.
  • Develop departmental activities, orientate, and train new team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to manage team member issues and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting services for HVAC systems and boilers.
  • Work closely with vendors to obtain quotes and oversee the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Administer the operating budget and prepare purchase orders to ensure efficient resource allocation.
  • Prepare written reports on risk management to inform senior leadership of potential hazards and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in facility operation and maintenance or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with commercial or residential building systems.
  • Hands-on experience in plumbing, electrical, heating plants, HVAC, or carpentry.
  • Thorough knowledge of building systems and related repairs.
  • Class 4 Boiler Certification is an asset.

Experience working with seniors in retirement living or long-term care environments is beneficial.
