Facility Maintenance Position Overview

The Facility Maintenance Manager role is an exciting opportunity to lead a team and ensure the safety and efficiency of our facilities. As a key member of our team, you will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our buildings, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in facility operation and maintenance, with a strong understanding of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and heating plants. They will also possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to train and develop their team members.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure client safety by following standard operational procedures, safe work practices, and training provided.
  • Organize training for personnel in fire safety techniques, schedule drills, and evaluate performance effectiveness.
  • Lead and develop the team, providing leadership and overseeing departmental activities. Orientate and train new team members.
  • Work with Human Resources to manage team member issues.
  • Understand and troubleshoot HVAC systems and boilers.
  • Have experience working with carpentry, electrical, and industrial equipment.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to obtain quotes and oversee work through to completion.
  • Provide written reports to management on departmental and facility risk management on a quarterly and annual basis.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree related to facility operation and maintenance or equivalent education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with commercial or residential building systems and facilities.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of: plumbing, electrical, heating plants, HVAC, or carpentry.
  • Thorough knowledge of building systems and related repairs.
  • Class 4 Boiler Certification is an asset.
  • Experience working with seniors in a retirement living or long-term care environment is an asset.
