Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Peer Support Specialist to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals who have experienced similar challenges, providing them with support, guidance, and a safe space to share their experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide person-centered support to clients, building strong relationships based on trust and understanding.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality services that meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Engage in assertive outreach and follow-up activities to ensure clients receive consistent support throughout their recovery journey.
  • Conduct intake and assessment processes, referring clients to relevant services as needed, including support for carers/loved ones.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders from diverse organizations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Lived experience of, and recovery from, harmful substance use.
  • Proven experience in delivering peer support services to individuals across various age groups, addressing substance use and associated psychosocial issues.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a multidisciplinary team, without direct supervision.
  • Tertiary qualifications in AOD and mental health or a related field.
  • Exceptional time management, organization, and computer software skills, with a focus on accurate record-keeping and timely data entry.
