Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a consumer peer worker. As an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide mutual support and practical assistance to consumers, empowering them to lead their own unique recovery process.

About You
  • You have lived experience of mental illness, which enables you to understand the complexities of this journey and provide empathetic support to others.
  • You possess knowledge of the Victorian public mental health system, allowing you to navigate the various services and resources available to consumers.
  • You recognize and understand your own personal recovery process, which you can use to inform and support your peers.
  • You are familiar with peer support principles and can utilize your experiences to support people from a mutual perspective.

In this role, you will work closely with service leaders and clinicians to promote a multidisciplinary team approach to care that is sensitive and responsive to the needs and views of consumers and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purposefully share your lived experiences to offer hope and support to consumers.
  • Support consumers to access Mental Health Community Support Sector Services and other appropriate community services to assist in their ongoing treatment and recovery.
