About the Role

Standards Australia Limited is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives to lead the Strategic Initiatives team in delivering a wide portfolio of initiatives to build the organization's profile, brand, and reputation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a team of professionals to ensure the effective delivery of projects.
  • Drive team performance to ensure the successful execution of strategic projects across various issues, areas, and matters of strategic importance.
  • Actively monitor programs of work to agreed deliverables, including time frame, risk, scope, and quality.
  • Develop and execute a government relations engagement strategy and operational plan to deliver the organization's objectives.
  • Oversee and evaluate the effectiveness and execution of the government relations engagement strategy to optimize delivery.
  • Collaborate across the organization with key internal stakeholders for continuous improvement and alignment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in new areas of opportunity to seek and define new standards solutions, in new areas or new ways.
  • Build initial agreement in new, difficult, or contentious areas of activity.
  • Manage strategic risk and complex stakeholder and industry issues as they arise.
  • Build and maintain a network of stakeholders from industry, government, and the community.
  • Develop plans to ensure industry and government are aware of key strategic activities.
  • Engage in public speaking and attending network events.
  • Proactively identify key areas of public policy that could affect or influence the organization's work.
About You
  • Degree or equivalent post-secondary qualification in an appropriate discipline.
  • 6-10+ years' experience in high-level stakeholder engagement, relationship building, and project delivery.
  • 5-10 years of people management experience.
  • Experienced in participating in panel discussions and public speaking.
  • Strong experience in government relations.
  • Demonstrated ability in business development and contract negotiation.
