Job Description

We are seeking a talented Insurance Account Development Specialist to join our Affinity practice team in Adelaide. This hybrid role requires working at least three days a week in the office and involves implementing Client First Principles across medium to large accounts.

As an Insurance Account Development Specialist, you will ensure high-quality customer service and consistent attainment of revenue and expense budgets. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Consistently achieving agreed service standards.
  • Fostering effective long-term relationships with key client decision makers and monitoring changes to preserve these relationships.
  • Taking a proactive approach to account management and service delivery, ensuring client needs are identified and met.
  • Utilising strong negotiation skills to provide favourable outcomes for clients and the organisation while maintaining relationships with insurer partners.
  • Implementing successful account retention and defence strategies.
  • Assisting claims colleagues in negotiating equitable claim settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of major classes of General insurance and staying updated on new technical and product developments.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant legislation, including the Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Act and Insurance Contracts Act.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tier 1 qualification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in insurance broking or underwriting.
  • Experience managing a portfolio and looking after small to medium commercial accounts.
  • Proficiency in placing and advising on a wide range of insurance classes, including Public Liability and Management Liability.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Excellent delivery of technical, administrative, and consulting support to clients.
