Emergency Services Recovery Officer Role

This dynamic role involves leading engagement and advocacy activities to strengthen community capacity before, during, and after an emergency or event.

As an Emergency Services Recovery Officer, you will work closely with Local and District Disaster Management Groups, councils, community organisations, and volunteers to build local knowledge, capability, and confidence.

In this fast-paced environment, you will employ a strengths-based community development approach to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading workshops and training sessions to support community recovery efforts
  • Engaging with stakeholders to develop and implement effective disaster response plans
  • Collaborating with community organisations to build resilience and capacity
Essential Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in emergency management, project management, or community engagement
  • Proven ability to set priorities, plan, and organise own work and that of other staff and volunteers as required
  • Experience in delivering project/program outcomes and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely
