Family Violence Specialist

McAuley Community Services for Women is a pioneering organization that provides comprehensive support to women and children affected by family violence.
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Children's Family Violence Practitioner to join our specialist family violence team. As a key member of our team, you will provide child-focused, trauma-informed support to infants, children, and young people in collaboration with their mother and other supports.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering high-quality, age-appropriate therapeutic activities and support.
- Engaging with mothers and children to conduct child-specific risk assessments and risk management.
- Developing and contributing to child-specific support plans to ensure children are supported as clients in their own right as well as part of a broader family structure.
- Providing secondary consultation to Case Managers and other support staff.
- Utilizing a strengths-based approach to empower mothers in their parenting and strengthen the mother-child relationship, including building a sense of safety.
- Coordinating and working collaboratively with a range of services and stakeholders to support women and children reach their goals.
The overall aim is to support women and children to attain safety, longer-term housing, and independence. This is a full-time ongoing position based in an inner west suburb of Melbourne metro. The salary is SCHADS Level 5 (subject to qualifications and experience) + superannuation and salary packaging.
