About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Violence Specialist Advisor to join our Mental Health and Wellbeing team at Albury Wodonga Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide family violence expertise and support to our Mental Health and Wellbeing Programs in identifying and responding to family violence.
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver trauma-informed care and support to consumers who have experienced family violence.
  • Develop and implement strategies to build capacity and provide secondary consultation to high-risk cases, including consumers who are using family violence.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to family violence and mental health practice.
  • Collaborate with local family violence sector and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive response to family violence.
Requirements
  • Thorough understanding of trauma-informed care and highly developed skills in working with consumers who have experienced family violence, including children.
  • Demonstrated experience of capacity building and providing secondary consultation to high-risk cases, including consumers who are using family violence.
  • Clear understanding of the correlation between family violence, mental health, and trauma and the impact across the lifespan.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the MARAM framework, current legislation relevant to family violence and mental health practice, including the Mental Health Act, Family Violence Protection Act, Child Wellbeing and Safety Act, and the current landscape of policy reform across Victoria and at a national level.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including consumers, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
