
Marine Conservation Specialist

Protecting Queensland's marine resources requires a dedicated professional who can work effectively with stakeholders and clients. As a Fisheries Officer - Recruit, you will contribute to the conservation of our marine environment while engaging with the community through education and outreach activities.
This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about fishery management, stakeholder engagement, and making a tangible impact in their community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting Authorised Officers with enforcement, surveillance, inspections, and investigations in fisheries, fisheries habitat protection, and small craft safety under state and commonwealth statutes.
- Providing compliance and extension services to fishers, small craft users, and the community to enhance their knowledge of fisheries, habitat, and boating safety requirements.
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of State and Commonwealth Fisheries and maritime safety legislation.
- Engaging effectively with clients, the public, and stakeholders by providing sound advice and escalating complex issues to supervisors.
- Participating in community engagement and education activities related to fisheries and marine compliance at public events.
- Managing expenditure activities according to Financial Delegations and Authorisations.
- Working collaboratively with a team of professionals.
- Assisting in routine maintenance of departmental equipment and materials.
This full-time position is part of the Fishery & Marine occupational group within the Government Administration industry.
