Job Title:

Cultural Conservation Officer

This is an opportunity to make a positive impact on the conservation of Quandamooka sea country in Moreton Bay Marine Park.

Job Description:

The successful applicant will be responsible for protecting and caring for marine environments, including environmental monitoring, public engagement, and compliance patrols.

They will work closely with Traditional Owners to uphold cultural values and assist with park management duties, develop and implement works programs, and provide accurate information to park users.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Environmental Monitoring: Conduct regular surveys to monitor the health of marine ecosystems and identify areas of concern.
  • Public Engagement: Develop and deliver educational programs to raise awareness about the importance of marine conservation and promote community involvement.
  • Compliance Patrols: Carry out patrols to ensure that park rules are being followed and take enforcement action when necessary.
  • Collaboration with Traditional Owners: Work closely with Traditional Owners to develop and implement programs that respect and celebrate their cultural heritage.
Requirements:
  • Automatic/unrestricted manual driver's license.
  • Coxswain certificate is highly desirable but not mandatory.
