Job Overview
\The Mackay-Whitsunday-Isaac region is seeking a dynamic professional to contribute to monitoring projects and produce data for positive change.
\In this diverse role, you'll coordinate field monitoring programs (marine), manage impactful projects, and help create the Partnership's Report Card on waterway health and environmental condition. You'll also provide technical expertise, support data management and visualisation, and engage with community, scientific, and Traditional Owner partners.
\We're looking for someone with strong project management skills, scientific or environmental expertise, and a passion for meaningful data. If you're ready to make a real difference for our environment while working in a collaborative team, we want to hear from you.
\This role involves travel and requires a current driver's licence.
\About the Role
\You'll be part of the Healthy Rivers to Reef Partnership team, hosted by Reef Catchments. Reporting to the HR2RP Executive Officer, you'll work closely with the Lead Technical Officer and Communications and Engagement Officer, as well as taking direct ownership of relationships with stakeholders and partners.
\About You
\You're an enthusiastic environmental professional with a degree in a related field, and 2–5 years' experience. You thrive on coordinating programs and projects, analysing data, and collaborating with scientists, stakeholders, and community groups.
\Your strengths include organisation, clear communication, and translating data/science to the wider community. You're comfortable working independently or in a tight-knit team and take pride in meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality outcomes.
\Experience with data management systems, spatial mapping (ArcGIS Pro), and data visualisation tools like Tableau will set you apart. Most importantly, you're passionate about protecting waterways and the Reef—and ready to use your skills to drive positive change.
\Selection Criteria
\Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Marine / Aquatic Science, Science, Environmental Management, Data Science or similar).
\2-5 years professional experience, in a related field.
\Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders (including marine and waterway field work). Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
\Strong data/science communication skills and familiarity with data visualisation tools. Experience in data management and Data Management Systems, spatial mapping, and associated programs (e.g. ArcGIS Pro) is highly regarded.
\Able to work independently and as part of a motivated team, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and proactively facilitate science/community engagement.
\Current driver's licence.
