Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Yard Planner to join our Planning & Cargo Team. This role involves overseeing the movement of new and used vehicles, heavy equipment, and breakbulk cargo within our terminal.

Reporting to the Planning & Cargo Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities

Managing yard, cargo, and berth allocations in accordance with established processes and guidelines, ensuring fairness and efficiency. Optimizing terminal planning processes to enhance cargo throughput. Collaborating with key stakeholders, including Stevedores, Shipping Lines, and Carriers. Inputting data into systems and maintaining them to maximize resource utilization. Monitoring performance through KPIs, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions. Supporting the overall objectives of Wallenius Wilhelmsen by working closely with internal and external partners to achieve optimal results. Conducting and reporting on daily meetings with Stevedores. Ensuring efficient processing of yard operations in collaboration with terminal users and carriers. Tracking data and forecasting future needs. Updating and maintaining the vessel schedule. Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

A degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business Management, or a related field is preferred. Experience with DMAIC and Six Sigma methodologies in logistics is advantageous. Strong technical aptitude and understanding of logistics operations. Ability to manage and implement key performance indicators effectively. Critical thinking skills to identify and implement process improvements. Knowledge of Australian government regulations regarding Quarantine and Customs. Proven leadership abilities to guide teams in meeting contract requirements. Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
