About the Role

As a Yard Planner at Wallenius Wilhelmsen, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient flow of cargo through our terminal in Port Melbourne. Reporting to the Planning & Cargo Manager, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and allocating resources to ensure timely and safe cargo handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective yard allocation and prioritization strategies to optimize cargo throughput.
  • Liaise with key customers, including Stevedores, Shipping Lines, Carriers, and OEMs, to ensure seamless cargo handling.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of cargo movements, including tracking and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with the Planning & Cargo Manager to identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Host and report daily Stevedore meetings to ensure open communication and resolve any issues promptly.

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics, International Trade, Economics, Business Management, or similar.
  • Proven experience in logistics principles, including DMAIC and Six Sigma.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of cargo handling processes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
