City of Darwin is seeking a highly skilled Manager Legal and Procurement to provide expert legal advice and leadership in procurement functions, compliance, and service delivery.

You will work collaboratively across the organisation, providing services to support effective governance and deliver on legislative compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing timely and accurate legal advice on a broad range of legal areas, including contract drafting and review.
  • Assisting with the preparation and drafting of leases, licences, and other agreements.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Local Government Act 2019 and other relevant legislation.
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of policies and procedures to effectively manage the procurement function.
  • Managing relevant staff to support ongoing service delivery and achieve functional objectives.
About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive commercial law expertise.
  • Experience managing complex procurement agreements and contract drafting.
  • Broad expertise in commercial, corporate, property, privacy, competition, consumer law, and IT regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and admission to the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory.
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a legal practice, in-house counsel, or government lawyer.
  • Relevant supervisory experience.
