About the Opportunity:

Downunder People, formerly Outreach Recruitment, is seeking a skilled Human Resources Specialist to provide leadership, direction, support, and HR advice to our client, a local council in a small, dry family Indigenous coastal community in Cape York.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide HR guidance and support to the CEO and council staff
  • Develop and implement HR strategies to enhance employee engagement, retention, and performance
  • Manage employment offers, performance management, retention, succession planning, industrial relations, recruitment, selection, and onboarding
  • Collaborate with the CEO and council staff to achieve organizational objectives

Requirements:

  • Formal HR qualification and experience in local government and/or Indigenous corporations
  • Sensitivity to Indigenous cultures and people
  • Strong computer skills and sound oral and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
