About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Risk Advisor to join our team at the Government of New South Wales. As a key member of our Risk & Assurance team, you will play a critical role in providing assurance that our controls are operating effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Risk Management Systems

Develop and maintain effective control systems and coordinate routine audit activities to provide assurance over our enterprise risk management activities.

Provide Oversight and Management

Provide oversight and management of our risk management systems, including our Enterprise Risk Register, and work with the business to improve risk management capability.

Conduct Monitoring and Analysis

Plan and conduct monitoring and analysis activities to detect and report potentially suspicious activity to proactively mitigate potential risk.

Maintain Awareness and Provide Expert Advice

Maintain awareness of relevant issues, obligations, insights, challenges, industry trends and practices, and provide timely, expert advice and recommendations on relevant matters to key stakeholders.

Perform and Coordinate Audits

Perform and coordinate audits and compliance activities, ensuring completion within required deadlines and quality standards to ensure compliance and statutory obligations.

Requirements
  • Experience in Risk Management

Experience in planning, leading and managing complex risk-based internal audits.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

Ability to address complex organisational issues using high-level analytical skills to critically appraise and problem-solve compliance, operational and governance risks.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills

Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication, consultation and negotiation skills with ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Leadership and Management Skills

Experience managing and developing people, encouraging new ideas and innovative approaches, and addressing, resolving and uplifting performance.
