Role Overview:
We are collaborating with a prestigious banking institution in Australia. This significant position has opened up in Line 2, aimed at delivering subject matter expert risk guidance to all divisions within the Consumer / Retail Banking sector and its distribution network.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a pivotal Senior Manager in executing risk analytics, strategic consultancy, and business collaboration with senior leaders of the Consumer Bank (Line 1).
- Develop comprehensive risk profiles for assigned business units, aiding in the formulation of risk strategies at both the Business and Group levels.
- Perform in-depth and thematic evaluations of issues, analyzing inherent and residual risks along with their implications under the prevailing regulatory framework.
- Contribute to the 2nd Line Operational Risk in projects, initiatives, strategies, and the efficient integration into business-as-usual operations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to enhance risk culture, offering insights on significant risks, controls, metrics, and trends, while promoting continuous improvement and efficiency in risk management processes.
- Document findings for management and committee presentations, actively participating in risk forums and committee discussions.
- Assume the responsibilities of the Executive Manager in their absence.
Essential Skills:
- Over 5 years of experience in Operational Risk and/or Compliance within Banking & Financial Services (Line 1 or 2).
- Proven experience in risk advisory and collaboration with business units to consistently add value.
- Exceptional ability to articulate operational risk matters to influence senior stakeholders.
- Fundamental understanding of the regulatory and prudential landscape relevant to Retail Banking operations.
- Capability to manage workload effectively and drive processes, particularly in a matrix reporting environment.
- Knowledge of consumer banking products (Mortgages, Cards, Secured and Unsecured Lending, Deposits, etc.) is advantageous but not mandatory.
