Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Peer Support Coordinator to join our team in Port Macquarie, working closely with carers and supporting them on their mental health journey.

About the Role
  • This is a part-time position until July 2025, with potential for extension, offering a competitive hourly rate of $38.30 - $41.68 p/Hour (subject to experience) + Super + Salary Packaging of up to $18,550.
  • You will be based in Port Macquarie, with outreach work within the community, providing support to those who need it most.

In this role, you will draw on your personal experiences to provide one-on-one peer support to carers, facilitate support groups, and offer secondary consultation. You will educate and support staff in understanding and engaging with carers from a lived experience perspective, enhancing holistic family-inclusive practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize Intentional Peer Support principles to form empathetic relationships with carers and staff, fostering a culture of hope and resilience.
  • Participate in monthly peer supervision and reflective practice sessions to ensure alignment with recovery-oriented frameworks and continuous personal development.

To succeed in this role, you should have excellent group facilitation skills, written and verbal communication skills, and IT proficiency. A Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, Intentional Peer Support core training, or Single Session Family Consultation training for carer peer workers would be highly desirable.
