About the Role
The YMCA Brisbane is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Development Officer to join our team at the Senior Moreton Bay Campus. As a key member of our Schools team, you will play a vital role in supporting the education and wellbeing of our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the delivery of pastoral care and community development programs to ensure student wellbeing needs are met and attendance targets are achieved.
- Plan and lead wellbeing programs for students, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
- Support the delivery of vocational training programs, empowering students to reach their full potential.
- Assist in delivering associated programs, services, and events for young people, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
- Form intentional relationships with students, identifying their strengths, passions, and unmet needs to provide tailored support.
- Support and case manage identified students, ensuring their needs are met in line with school policies and practice.
Requirements
- Hold a Certificate III or above in Youth Work, Community Services, or a related field.
- Hold a Positive Notice Blue Card or be willing to obtain one.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with young people, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies, promoting a supportive environment.
- Ability and commitment to working with young people using the Strengths Approach, demonstrating a non-judgmental and empathic framework.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
