Government Policy Officer Position

This is a long-term contract opportunity with a high-profile federal government department, suitable for an experienced Policy Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of high-priority policies and draft documents to support relevant legislation in Parliament.
  • Respond to requests (including data requests) to assist with policy and decision-making processes.
  • Prepare input and responses to stakeholder enquiries, ministerial correspondence, submissions, and briefs.
  • Manage project work to support delivery and achieve outcomes.

Key Tasks and Deliverables:

  • Liaise with external and internal stakeholders to deliver project outcomes.
  • Prepare various program documentation, including guidelines, instructions, advice, and operational policy artefacts.
  • Ensure initiative management aligns with relevant policies and standards.
  • Progress procurement of personnel and consultants as required.
  • Manage governance and secretariat functions.
