Senior Health and Safety Manager

The Catholic Education Office invites applications for a permanent full-time position of Senior Health and Safety Manager, offering a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to providing a safe and healthy work environment.
About the Role
This challenging role involves developing and implementing comprehensive workplace safety and wellbeing strategies across the Diocese. As part of the People and Culture service area, you will work closely with Principals and School Leaders to design and deliver tools and resources supporting their due diligence under Work Health and Safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert support and advice on WHS matters to schools and office sites within CEDoW;
- Developing and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging WHS issues impacting the education sector;
- Analysing WHS data to inform regular reports for School and Office Leadership;
- Conducting site audits to verify compliance with Work Health and Safety policies and processes;
- Completing internal investigations into serious/significant work health and safety incidents;
- Formulating and implementing proactive and preventative resources, particularly in psychological hazards affecting staff across the education sector;
- Reviewing staff and student injury/illness notifications using risk management strategies.
About You
We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in occupational health and safety, human resources, or related disciplines. Key qualities include positive interpersonal skills, excellent discretion and judgment, individual drive, and ability to develop WHS policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications - degree qualified preferred;
- At least 3-5 years of experience working in the field of health and safety, allied health discipline, or human resources;
- WHS auditing qualifications an advantage.
