About Our Role

We are seeking an experienced Culture Ambassador to bring bold First Nations storytelling to life and share it with the world.

This role is ideal for someone with deep connections to the First Nations Community, a demonstrated passion and experience in the arts, and a talent for working with people.

You will be across what's happening in the sector and able to work closely with creative industries and stakeholders to bring ideas to life – collaborating at every stage in the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and Deliver Programs: Develop First Nations-led events, performances, installations, and commissions that inspire audiences and reflect cultural excellence.
  • Build Partnerships: Form strong, respectful relationships with artists, communities, creative industries, and organisations, working collaboratively in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Support and Nurture First Nations Artists: Identify emerging artists and trends, giving them opportunities to share their work locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Bring Fresh Ideas: Contribute creative concepts and cultural insight that strengthen Melbourne's cultural identity.
  • Lead Projects: Manage events from concept to delivery, coordinating logistics, budgets, and partners while supporting artists to do their best work.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Be known and recognised in the First Nations Community
  • Hold strong networks within First Nations arts and connections to cultural communities.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of people in cross-cultural environments.
  • Proven ability to deliver arts projects or events on time and within budget.
  • Skilled in building relationships and engaging stakeholders.
  • Practical knowledge and experience of project planning, from concept through to delivery.
