Key Role Summary

This role supports the provision of culturally safe health services to First Nation people through key leadership and advocacy.

The Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer function is a critical component of this position, offering support to clients and their families navigating the healthcare system.

Activities will align with the cultural safety plan, including coordination of significant cultural day celebrations, developing tailored education for staff, preparing reports on First Nation matters, and facilitating engagement and community consultation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Advocacy and liaison for First Nation clients and their families
  • Cultural event planning and coordination
  • Staff education and training development
  • Report preparation and analysis
  • Community engagement and consultation

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Identification as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including consumers, families, and staff
  • Organisational and administrative competence, including Microsoft Office proficiency
