Cultural Ambassador Role

We are seeking a Cultural Ambassador to play a vital role in fostering engagement and understanding of First Peoples communities in south-eastern Australia.

This position involves developing and delivering programs that connect with both First Peoples communities and the general public, enhancing cultural awareness and appreciation.

Through educational activities, performances, and interactive experiences, the Cultural Ambassador contributes significantly to Museums Victoria's mission of promoting a deeper knowledge of First Peoples cultures.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Develop and deliver diverse range of programs tailored to booked groups and public audiences.
  2. Collaborate with teams across Museums Victoria to create programs that align with strategic goals and deliver impactful visitor experiences.
  3. Prepare program materials, gather and report on audience feedback.
  4. Support the development of training for staff and volunteers involved in program delivery.
  5. Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements.

Key Requirements

  • Sound understanding of and strong relationships with First Peoples of south-eastern Australia.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present First Peoples knowledge, cultures, histories, and technology for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in research, development, and delivery of engaging programs for diverse audiences.
  • Awareness of education and learning techniques for diverse audiences and ability to transfer this knowledge to a museum context.
