**About This Opportunity**

We are seeking a Programs Officer to join our team in Melbourne Museum. As a Programs Officer, you will play a vital role in fostering engagement and understanding of the rich cultural heritage of First Peoples communities in south-eastern Australia.

This position involves developing and delivering programs that connect with both First Peoples communities and the general public, enhancing cultural awareness and appreciation. You will work closely with teams across Museums Victoria to create programs that align with strategic goals and deliver impactful visitor experiences.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Present a diverse range of programs tailored to booked groups and public audiences.
  • Collaborate with teams to create programs that align with strategic goals and deliver impactful visitor experiences.
  • Prepare program materials, gather and report on audience feedback.
  • Support the development of training for staff and volunteers involved in program delivery.
  • Evaluate programs to ensure they resonate with diverse audiences and showcase the significance of First Peoples cultures.

About You:

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with strong relationships with First Peoples of south-eastern Australia and the ability to effectively liaise with First Peoples communities more broadly. You should have demonstrated ability to interpret and present First Peoples knowledge, cultures, histories, and technology for diverse audiences.

You will also require experience in the research, development, and delivery of engaging programs for diverse audiences. Additionally, you should be aware of education and learning techniques for diverse audiences and able to transfer this knowledge to a museum context.

This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified position, and applicants must meet the eligibility criteria under relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation.
