Job Description

Our organization seeks a highly skilled Claims Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating claims, evaluating damages and losses, and negotiating settlements. You will work closely with clients, insurance companies, and other stakeholders to resolve complex claims issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough investigations into reported claims to determine the nature of the loss and the scope of damage.
  • Analyze first reports of claim to assess coverage provided and verify accuracy of documentation.
  • Establish accurate and timely reserves, maintaining an active diary to track file development and disposition.
  • Provide exceptional service standards, adhering to best practice guidelines.
  • Practice sound litigation controls over counsel, documenting all developments in claim files.
  • Meet with parties to resolve issues, effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Direct claim representatives to participate in file development and subrogation, ensuring adherence to Insurance Contracts Act and statutory rules.
  • Exercise good judgment in reaching final disposition of claims by evaluating nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage and applicable limits.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • A tertiary qualification (law degree desirable).
  • Claims experience and written communication skills relative to claims handling.
  • Insurance policies and legal requirements, damage and loss evaluation, negotiations, industry trends, litigation procedures, and reserving skills.
