Position Overview
The Major Gifts Relationship Specialist is responsible for identifying, acquiring, nurturing, and sustaining relationships with high-value donors and philanthropists to secure significant financial contributions. These funds will support a variety of strategic research initiatives and client-centered programs/services. This role plays a crucial part in developing and maintaining a network of key funders to ensure a consistent revenue stream and meet established income goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet individual annual revenue goals by concentrating on high-value philanthropic contributors and prospects.
- Collaborate effectively to achieve overall major gifts revenue targets.
- Conduct prospect identification, research, and wealth screening within both internal and external supporter bases.
- Build and cultivate relationships with potential donors.
- Prepare and present donation requests, including the development of funding proposals and presentations.
- Provide exceptional stewardship to donors, identifying additional engagement opportunities to enhance retention and grow a sustainable major giving program.
- Maintain comprehensive records of donor and prospect interactions in the CRM system, including value assessments, opportunities, contact planning, communications, and reporting.
- Contribute actively to the success of the Philanthropy team and the broader Fundraising team by leveraging opportunities and collaborating on engagement initiatives.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in developing and executing a major gifts program.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong and effective relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong presentation and promotional abilities.
- A collaborative team player with a strong work ethic, positive demeanor, and a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with exceptional presentation, influencing, and negotiation capabilities.
