About Austrade

Austrade is an Australian Commonwealth Government agency reporting to the Minister for Trade and Tourism, with a core purpose of growing Australia's prosperity and promoting it on the global stage.

The agency requires a results-oriented leader with relevant commercial and government experience and a proven track record of successfully leading complex international enterprises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work to increase Australian exports and investment, aligned with the Australian Government's strategic priorities: Trade and Investment Diversification, Net Zero, Economic Security, First Nations, Visitor Economy, and Trade Modernisation.
  • Oversee the provision of practical, evidence-based trade, tourism, and other relevant policy advice to government, effective delivery of the Export Market Development Grants scheme, purchase/provider arrangements for Tradestart, and consular assistance at Austrade-managed overseas posts.
  • Cultivate strong networks and build enduring partnerships across the Government and private sectors globally, representing Austrade externally with senior government officials and Ministers.

Requirements:

  • A leader with a proven track record of success in international trade and commerce.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the Australian Government's trade and investment priorities and the ability to develop strategies to achieve them.

Compensation Package:

We offer a highly competitive salary, estimated to be around $250,000 per annum, as well as a range of benefits including opportunities for professional development and a dynamic work environment.
