**About the Role**
We are seeking talented communications specialists to join our Media and Communications Delivery Branch at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Canberra.
As a media officer, you will work in consultation with divisions across the department, our overseas posts, and State and Territory offices, to lead DFAT's engagement with the media and support our Ministers as key spokespeople for the portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include providing specialist media advice, coordinating responses to media enquiries, facilitating media background briefings, preparing and reviewing media products, supporting DFAT's response to international crises, providing media support for domestic and overseas Ministerial visits, and providing media training to DFAT staff.
**Salary and Benefits**
The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 - $145,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. As an APS 6/EL1 employee, you will be entitled to a range of benefits, including access to flexible working arrangements, a generous superannuation scheme, and opportunities for professional development.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A strong understanding of media relations and public affairs;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment;
