About the Role

Ventia is seeking a highly skilled SHEQ Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of safety, health, and environmental procedures and practices that comply with Australian standards and relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Safety and Environment Team to provide effective and efficient safety and environmental management
  • Ensure all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner, with the application of suitable frameworks and documentation in accordance with legislation and regulations
  • Investigate safety-related incidents or issues and provide recommendations to operations
  • Maintain a 'Safe Working Culture' on the contract through ongoing active engagement and education of leaders and the workforce
  • Instil a proactive can-do attitude and positive team culture within the operations team
  • Oversee employee rehabilitation, including return to work planning
  • Maintain effective record management in relation to safety, health, and environment activities
  • Escalate and report incidents/issues as per Ventia framework
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in workplace/occupation health and safety, environmental, or quality equivalent
  • Formal training in incident investigation
  • Management systems and lead auditor qualifications
  • Experience as a safety professional in industrial safety and possession of required technical skills and knowledge
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and a positive team culture
  • Experience in managing safety audit programs to ensure effective system compliance
