The Role

As the Senior Resource Management Specialist within the IT PMO, you will be accountable to the Director of the Office of IT PMO, taking charge of global resource allocation aligned with project priorities and capacity, while providing support to HUB PMO Directors and Project Managers.

Your Responsibilities:

The Senior Resource Management Specialist will:

  • Resource Allocation: Ensure optimal resource distribution and capacity planning based on individual skillsets, past experiences, and availability to enhance project outcomes.
  • Tool Ownership: Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of resource planning tools.
  • Project Monitoring: Oversee daily project operations, workloads, and associated resource needs.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and manage resource conflicts effectively.
  • Project Awareness: Stay informed about current and upcoming projects and business initiatives, planning resources accordingly.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of the resource planning process.
  • Performance Metrics: Track and report on key performance indicators, including resource utilization and planning forecasts, providing insights for process enhancements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with the Portfolio Manager, HUB IT PMO Directors, and key stakeholders to address project resourcing requirements and priorities.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring trust and alignment.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to WSP's Health and Safety standards at all times.

Your Profile:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, information technology, business administration, management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in PMO or program/project management focusing on resource allocation.
  • Experience managing resources across geographically diverse locations.
  • Ability to navigate within a matrix organizational structure.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the IT lifecycle, including pipeline, resource, demand, project delivery, and financial aspects.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
  • Presentation and training skills are advantageous.
  • A relevant project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE Practitioner, PMP) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ITIL v3 or higher is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with peers and leadership.
