Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Marine Specialist to join our team in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne. As a key member of our multidisciplinary project teams, you will support the delivery of large-scale capital development projects, including oil and gas, renewables, mining, and infrastructure sector clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake assessments to evaluate and mitigate potential impacts on the marine environment from capital development projects.
  • Utilize your knowledge of Commonwealth, State, and Local Government environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Develop strong relationships and communicate clearly with peers, colleagues, clients, and sub-contractors within and outside the Australian-New Zealand Business Unit.
  • Deliver high-quality reporting to meet the needs of our clients and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in identifying, securing, and managing new opportunities.
  • Support the development of our junior team members through coaching and mentoring.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (marine science, environmental science, environmental management).
  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications such as Honours, Masters, or PhD would be an advantage.
  • 3+ (mid-level) or 6+ (senior) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in environmental consultancy, environmental regulation, or industry is an advantage.
  • Strong interest in marine and coastal ecosystems, potential threats, coastal management issues, and strategies for protection and conservation is essential.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with Australian environmental approvals processes.
  • Technical competence in undertaking marine assessments to support environmental approvals.
  • Critical thinker skills – i.e. able to synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful outcomes.
  • Excellent report writing, data collation, and management/presentation skills.
  • Motivated to proactively contribute to a team environment, share knowledge, skills, and ideas.
  • Demonstrable project management experience is an advantage.
  • Authorisation to work in Australia.
