The Opportunity

In the role of Lead Resource Planner within the IT PMO, you will be accountable to the Director of the Office of IT PMO, overseeing the comprehensive resource allocation on a global scale, aligned with priorities and capacity, while providing support to HUB PMO Directors and Project Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

The Lead Resource Planner for IT PMO will undertake the following:

  • Resource Management: Ensure optimal resource distribution and capacity planning based on skillsets, past experiences, and availability to enhance project outcomes.
  • Ownership of Resource Planning Tools: Design, implement, and maintain resource planning tools.
  • Project Monitoring: Oversee daily project activities, workloads, and associated resource allocations.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and manage resource conflicts effectively.
  • Project Awareness: Stay informed about current and upcoming projects and business development initiatives, planning resources accordingly.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of the resource planning processes.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Achieve established KPIs, including resource utilization, and compare planning forecasts with actuals, providing insights for process enhancements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with the Portfolio Manager, HUB IT PMO Directors, and key stakeholders to address project resourcing needs and priorities.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering trust and alignment.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to WSP Health and Safety standards at all times.

Candidate Profile:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, information technology, business, management, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of experience in PMO or program/project management focused on resource allocation.
  • Experience managing resources across geographically diverse locations.
  • Ability to navigate within a matrix organizational structure.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the IT lifecycle, including pipeline, resource, demand, project delivery, and financial aspects.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Presentation and training skills are advantageous.
  • A relevant project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE Practitioner, PMP) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ITIL v3 or later is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with peers and leadership.
