About the Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Operations Director to spearhead the development of a new, industry-leading operation. This pivotal greenfield position combines the strengths of two highly successful heavy haulage businesses, uniting them to achieve a single ambitious vision: becoming a market leader within the next five years.

This role provides the chance to foster a strong team culture within an award-winning business renowned for excellence and innovation. With a focus on truck and dog operations, supported by a comprehensive fleet of floats, low loaders, and wet hire solutions, you will have the opportunity to drive significant growth through leadership, operational excellence, and strategic sales development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute business growth strategies.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Lead and manage transport, site, and operational teams.
    • Ensure compliance with OHS standards and the Quality Management System.
    • Oversee asset management and maintain performance reporting.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts.
    • Drive customer satisfaction through exceptional service delivery.
  • Sales and Business Development:
    • Secure new contracts with major quarries and landfill contractors.
    • Develop and implement marketing and social media strategies.
  • Financial Management:
    • Manage P&L, budgets, and KPI targets for the team.
    • Report regularly on business growth and financial performance.
  • People Leadership:
    • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture while promoting continuous improvement.
Candidate Requirements
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of senior leadership experience in Truck & Dog or Heavy Haulage operations.
  • Proven success in operations management, sales, and business growth.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the heavy haulage market.
  • A track record of building high-performing teams and fostering collaborative environments.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and IT skills.
  • Hands-on experience and a willingness to step in wherever needed.
Salary and Benefits
  • Base Salary: $200,000 - $250,000 per annum.
