Role Overview:

The Principal Product Lead is tasked with delivering technological guidance to the Trading and Portfolio divisions, emphasizing the development and management of Trading systems. This role is crucial for fostering a collaborative relationship between business operations and technology, especially within the intricate landscape of Energy Trading. It presents a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of Energy Trading while cultivating a proficient technology team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with essential business and technology stakeholders to create a cohesive Trading and Portfolio technology vision and roadmap that aligns with strategic business objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of the Trading and Portfolio technology strategic plan, which includes managing capital projects and enhancing the operational efficiency of over 20 specialized IT systems.
  • Act as a facilitator and change agent as AGL Energy transitions its generation portfolio, leveraging significant investments made in trading systems over recent years.
  • Drive technology outcomes through genuine partnerships across technology and business sectors to achieve overall business unit goals.
  • Utilize a comprehensive IT background to ensure the most effective tools, processes, and methodologies are employed.
  • Enhance and develop the team's capabilities, culture, and engagement.
  • Mentor and nurture talent, fostering individual growth to maximize potential.
  • Collaborate closely with Delivery Leads, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to maintain and execute delivery priorities.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in Australian energy markets, with a nuanced understanding of trading, trading analytics, trading risk, or trading finance. Your exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to forge strong relationships will be key to implementing impactful changes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, commerce, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian and international energy markets, along with awareness of emerging challenges posed by renewable and storage assets.
  • Ability to navigate complex systems, understanding their application within the business, interdependencies, and limitations.
  • Expertise in optimizing the use of complex data throughout trade lifecycles.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing abilities.
  • Experience in developing and executing change and communication strategies for diverse audiences.
  • Extensive experience in product management or leadership roles.
