Role Overview:
The Principal Product Lead is tasked with delivering technological direction to the Trading and Portfolio divisions, primarily focusing on the development and operation of Trading systems. This role embodies a commitment to fostering collaboration between business and technology, especially in the intricate realm of Energy Trading. It presents a unique chance to deepen your understanding of Energy Trading while cultivating a proficient and effective technology team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with essential business and technology stakeholders to create a cohesive Trading and Portfolio technology vision and roadmap that aligns with the overarching business strategy.
- Guide the execution of the Trading and Portfolio technology strategic plan, overseeing capital programs and managing the operational performance and continuous enhancement of over 20 specialized IT systems.
- Act as a facilitator and change agent as AGL transitions its generation portfolio, leveraging the significant investments made in trading systems over recent years.
- Drive and own technology outcomes through genuine partnerships across technology and business functions to achieve overall business unit objectives.
- Utilize a comprehensive IT background to ensure the most suitable tools, processes, and methodologies are effectively implemented.
- Enhance and develop the team's capabilities, culture, and engagement.
- Mentor and nurture talent, actively coaching individuals to realize their full potential.
- Work closely with Delivery Leads, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to maintain and execute delivery priorities.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in Australian energy markets, with a nuanced understanding of trading, trading analytics, trading risk, or trading finance. Your exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to forge strong relationships will be key to implementing impactful changes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, commerce, or a related field.
- A comprehensive understanding of Australian and international energy markets, along with the emerging challenges posed by renewable and storage assets.
- The capability to grasp complex systems, their applications within the business, interdependencies, and limitations.
- The ability to optimize the use of intricate data throughout trade lifecycles.
- Advanced communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Experience in developing and executing change and communication strategies for diverse audiences.
- Extensive experience in product management or leadership roles.
