Waste Education Officer

Join the City of Mandurah's Environmental Engagement team as a Waste Education Officer and play a key role in delivering our Waste Education and Engagement Plan. This exciting opportunity will see you develop, implement, and evaluate community education and engagement across a range of waste and recycling initiatives.

About the Role

This full-time Level 5 position is responsible for delivering our Waste Education and Engagement Plan, which includes developing, implementing, and evaluating community education and engagement across a range of waste and recycling initiatives. You will work closely with the Environmental Engagement team to develop and deliver waste education programs, and collaborate with other teams to ensure a cohesive approach to waste management and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver waste education programs to engage the community and promote sustainable waste management practices.
  • Collaborate with the Environmental Engagement team to develop and implement community education and engagement strategies.
  • Work with other teams to ensure a cohesive approach to waste management and education.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, stakeholders, and partners to promote waste education and engagement.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform waste education and engagement strategies.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Education, Sustainable Development, Communications, or a related field.
  • Accreditation in community engagement, environmental education, and/or behaviour change.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of waste management and education principles.
  • Current unrestricted 'C' class national driver's licence.
  • Developed understanding of waste management and education, including behaviour change techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver waste education programs.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and engage the community.
