We are seeking a Specialist Family Support Practitioner to provide advice, guidance, and mentoring in relation to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural practice. This is a full-time position funded until 31 December 2027 with possible extension.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will:
- Identify practice gaps and build skills and knowledge in areas that enhance cultural competency.
- Work with other professionals and agencies utilising an ecological model.
- Support staff to understand and implement the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle in their work.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
- At least 5 years' experience providing complex and intensive case-management and therapeutic services to families, caregivers, young people, and children in a child protection framework.
- An understanding of current child protection legislation and policy reforms.
- An ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
In addition to the above, you will need:
- Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
- Willingness of a respected Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural referee to vouch for your appropriateness for this role.
- Current driver's licence.
- Legally able to work in Australia (proof of eligibility will be requested).
