About the Role

The Department of Education is seeking a skilled Data Analyst Project Officer to join the Careers NSW team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering a range of data analytics and visualisation tasks to support and improve service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining databases to ensure their integrity, security, and performance.
  • Executing complex queries on SQL/Oracle or Azure databases to extract, transform, and analyze data efficiently.
  • Creating interactive visualizations and dashboards using tools like Power BI and Tableau to present actionable insights.
  • Collaborating with business teams to understand their data analysis needs and provide customized solutions.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in data analysis processes and proposing innovative solutions.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a relevant field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in SQL/Oracle or Azure databases, including data modeling, complex queries, and performance optimization.
  • Advanced skills in data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau to create intuitive and visually appealing dashboards.
  • Strong knowledge of query languages like SQL to extract data and perform complex analysis.
  • Familiarity with database architecture concepts and best practices for data security and integrity.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective data solutions and present clear insights to different audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities in data.
