About the Role

The Department of Education is seeking a skilled Data Analyst Project Officer to join the Careers NSW team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering a range of data analytics and visualization tasks to support and improve service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain databases to ensure their integrity, security, and performance.
  • Execute complex queries on SQL/Oracle or Azure databases to extract, transform, and analyze data efficiently.
  • Create interactive visualizations and dashboards using tools like Power BI and Tableau to present actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with business teams to understand their data analysis needs and provide customized solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in data analysis processes and propose innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or relevant field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in SQL/Oracle or Azure databases, including data modeling, complex queries, and performance optimization.
  • Advanced skills in data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau to create intuitive and visually appealing dashboards.
  • Strong knowledge of query languages like SQL to extract data and perform complex analysis.
  • Familiarity with database architecture concepts and best practices for data security and integrity.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective data solutions and present clear insights to different audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities in data.

About You

The ideal candidate will have a 'can do' and positive approach to the delivery of the work with an interest in data and developing of reports to inform decision making for the Careers NSW program.

They will come into a Careers NSW team that is welcoming and supportive with great collaboration skills. The ideal candidate will hold an eagerness to provide quality customer service, ability to work autonomously and can think and problem solve.
