About the Role


The Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join the Careers NSW team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality data analytics and visualization tasks to support and improve service delivery.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and maintain databases to ensure their integrity, security, and performance
  • Execute complex queries on SQL/Oracle or Azure databases to extract, transform, and analyze data efficiently
  • Create interactive visualizations and dashboards using tools like Power BI and Tableau to present actionable insights
  • Collaborate with business teams to understand their data analysis needs and provide customized solutions
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in data analysis processes and propose innovative solutions

About You


We are looking for a candidate with a 'can do' and positive approach to the delivery of the work, with an interest in data and developing reports to inform decision-making for the Careers NSW program. You will come into a Careers NSW team that is welcoming and supportive with great collaboration skills.


Essential Requirements



  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or relevant field and/or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in SQL/Oracle or Azure databases, including data modeling, complex queries, and performance optimization
  • Advanced skills in data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau to create intuitive and visually appealing dashboards
  • Strong knowledge of query languages like SQL to extract data and perform complex analysis
  • Familiarity with database architecture concepts and best practices for data security and integrity
  • Ability to translate business requirements into effective data solutions and present clear insights to different audiences
