**Role Overview**

We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement Officer to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that Aboriginal families can engage confidently and equitably with our program — a research initiative focused on early intervention for young children showing signs of developmental delay.

You will be responsible for:

- Building and maintaining respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, and families.
- Supporting Aboriginal families during intake and exit from our program.
- Advocating for families and assisting practitioners in delivering culturally safe and respectful services
- Representing the program at forums, events, and community meetings.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders and the broader community to raise awareness and promote understanding of the program.

This position will work across two locations. This is a part-time position until November 2026.

**About You**

You are someone with a strong connection to community and a passion for supporting Aboriginal families and children. You bring cultural knowledge, empathy, and excellent communication skills to everything you do.

You will also have the following skills and experience:

- Demonstrated understanding of the cultural, social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal communities,
- Experience in community engagement, health promotion or stakeholder liaison.
- Confidence in providing culturally appropriate information to individuals and families.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivation and flexibility, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A genuine interest in child development and early intervention (experience in this area is desirable).
