Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer to support one of our clients in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and defining system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, including experience with network administration, software installations, and hardware upgrades. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
  • Maintains organization's computer systems' workflows and responsible for upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems
  • Provides technical support in management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures
  • Troubleshoots moderately complex system hardware and software issues
  • Trains end users on proper use of hardware and software
  • Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions
  • Ensures data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
  • Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
  • Ensures that performance and security of computers meet needs of network users
  • May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies
  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree with 20 years experience or HS/GED with 25 years experience in systems engineering
