Financial Controller Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team in Darwin. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting functions within the business.

About Our Client

Our client is a Territory-owned and operated business providing waste, recycling, and environmental solutions across the Northern Territory. They work with residential and industrial clients, including supporting the NT's largest government and industrial projects.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Accounting Functions: Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting functions within the business.
  • Financial Reporting: Providing accurate and timely financial reports on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Statutory Obligations: Preparing BAS, Payroll tax, and other statutory obligations.
  • Cash Flow Management: Preparing and managing cash flow, budget, and forecasting functions on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Team Management: Managing and mentoring accounts officers.
  • Process Improvement: Continuous improvement in the manufacturing process.
  • Payroll and Asset Management: Overseeing the payroll and asset management functions for the business.
  • Financial Guidance: Providing guidance on various financial and accounting matters.
  • Liaison with External Accounts: Liaising with external accountants at year-end.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: CPA or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a Financial Controllers role within a business environment.
  • Skills: Sound accounting and business taxation knowledge, excellent organisational, planning, and time management skills, demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and stakeholders, attention to detail, and ability to interpret Industrial Awards.
Benefits
  • Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
