Job Description

Transport Canberra and City Services are seeking an experienced leader to fill the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) from December 2024 for a period of ten months with a possibility of extension. This is a maternity leave cover role.

The COO will report directly to the Director-General TCCS, serving as a key member of the TCCS Executive Board and contributor to the strategic direction and decision-making of the directorate.

The successful candidate will help develop strategic solutions, influence change, and provide timely advice and support to the Director-General with a particular focus on corporate functions, performance, and reporting, as well as the directorate's relationship with other directorates and Minister/s office.

This is a dynamic, high-profile, and high-pressure working environment that requires the ability to operate and lead diverse teams effectively.

The COO will be responsible for delivering corporate services across TCCS, working collaboratively with all TCCS portfolios and business areas.

The role also involves working with other ACT senior executives, government, and non-government stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes for the directorate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the efficient operations of TCCS through the provision of corporate enabling services that support good governance and organisational integrity;
  • Providing strong financial management, quality legal services, sound procurement, contract management, secure and modern information and technology services, people and workforce capability, audit and risk, and safety and wellbeing of our people and workplaces;

The COO will oversee and maintain business and corporate services that support the strategic and operational needs of the directorate.

Salary: $344,954 - $358,775 per annum, depending on current superannuation arrangements. The remuneration includes a cash component of $307,134.

Contract duration: 10 months with a possibility of extension.
