About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Capital Investment Leader to join our team at the Department of Home Affairs.

Salary Package

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary package, including an annual salary range of $131,272.00 - $170,827.00, plus 15.4% superannuation benefits and flexible working conditions.

About the Position

In this key role, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of the Capital Investment Program (CIP) for Home Affairs, which involves managing and coordinating the annual CIP process, including assessment and prioritization of project proposals, coordination of stakeholder review workshops, project approval recommendations to senior executives, allocation of budgets to projects.

You will also be accountable for managing and leading a team, providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the delivery of the CIP for Home Affairs.
  • Accountable for managing and leading a team.
  • Advise and support senior management on complex issues associated with the management and delivery of the CIP.
  • Deliver high-level submissions for senior committees.
  • Build and sustain collaborative working relationships and networks with colleagues and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or extensive experience working within the Commonwealth Government financial framework (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience of strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, evaluation and/or decision making;
  • An understanding of capital budget and asset management in government, and the capability requirements of a large, diverse department.
  • Superior level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present information to large groups and Senior Executives.
  • Experience with the use of SAP and/or TM1.
  • Experience in supervising and managing staff.
