Senior Strategic People Lead

We are seeking an experienced and strategic HR leader to drive people-focused strategies, lead workforce transformation initiatives, and embed cultural change across the department.

In this leadership position, you will:

  • Lead and influence organisational change initiatives that drive engagement and enhance organisational effectiveness.
  • Provide expert, strategic advice to senior leaders on complex HR matters and workforce planning.
  • Champion a collaborative, cross-functional approach to delivering high-quality HR services across the department.

You'll work closely with senior executives and managers to support operational goals and long-term planning.

The successful candidate will have significant expertise in HR business partnering, with a track record of supporting organisational transformation and driving strategic people outcomes.

Key responsibilities

- Change management and project leadership — experience in leading initiatives that enhance workforce capability and deliver tangible results.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving — ability to identify complex workforce issues and implement solutions that align with business priorities.
- Stakeholder engagement and communication — confident working with senior leaders, influencing decisions, and building trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Leadership coaching — provide high-impact advice and guidance to people leaders, supporting cultural and behavioural change at all levels of the organisation.
- Employment legislation and policy knowledge — well-versed in public sector frameworks, with the ability to manage complex people matters in line with legal and policy requirements.
- Workforce planning and organisational design — experience aligning workforce structures and strategies to support operational goals and long-term planning.

What you need to succeed

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, employee relations, or a related discipline — or bring equivalent, extensive experience in complex people and culture roles.
