
First Nations Family Support Specialist

This role is based in Sydney and involves traveling across the area to engage with families and communities in their own homes.
As a First Nations Community Coordinator, you will build strong relationships with First Nations families, ensuring their voices and preferences are at the forefront.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about working within the framework of the Best Practice Guidelines in Early Intervention.
About the Role
- Build strong, respectful relationships with First Nations families to ensure their needs are met.
- Undertake observations of a child in their natural environment to assess functioning and support needs.
- Support First Nations families to establish meaningful goals and aspirations for their child and family, and track progression toward goals.
- Provide community connections and linkages to mainstream services in the local area to improve children's access to the right supports and meaningful social participation.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the well-being of First Nations families and children.
- Collaborate with other professionals to provide holistic support to families and children.
- Conduct home visits to assess the needs of children and families.
- Work closely with community organizations to promote early intervention and support services.
- Aboriginality confirmed by a common seal and a reference from an Aboriginal organisation or community group.
- Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood or Allied Health is desirable.
- Understanding of child protection principles and Keep Them Safe.
- Valid Driver's Licence (P1 minimum).
- WWCC & NDIS Worker Screening Check.
